During your studies at the International Study Centre and at the University, you will develop the skills and confidence you'll need to become a successful graduate, prepared for a rewarding career in your chosen specialism.

At the International Study Centre

At the University of Surrey International Study Centre, we include CareerAhead activities in our programmes to help prepare you for life beyond university. CareerAhead is designed to give you a head start in the competitive global graduate employment market. We will help you to develop key employability skills such as:

  • problem solving
  • teamwork
  • time management
  • communication

In addition, we will work with you to create a personal development plan to help you identify and work towards your goals for future success.

You'll also have the opportunity to build up work experience by taking up part-time employment or a work placement during your studies. Find out more about working rights as part your visa.

Virtual Internships

Benefit from an online internship placement in a career field of your choice with Virtual Internships. Having access to a virtual work placement experience will help prepare you for the world of work, by enabling you to put the knowledge you have gained from your academic studies into working practice*.

Once you begin your journey with us at the University of Surrey International Study Centre, you will be able to utilise Virtual Internships at no extra cost and start gaining real-world industry experience while you study with us**.

You will also gain access to CareerBridge, a professional development hub. Here, you will be assigned a supervisor who can help you develop your CV and interview techniques, as well as deliver key insights that will be useful once you have started your career.

At the University

During your degree at the University of Surrey you will have access to the Employability and Careers Centre. Advisers will help to prepare you for your Professional Training placement and ensure you develop your employability skills ready for your future career.
