Postgraduate programmes at the University of Surrey International Study Centre will benefit from changes to English language requirements from summer 2019.
The University of Surrey International Study Centre is now a part of the Office for Students Register of English higher education. This means the centre is now able to directly assess postgraduate students’ ability to read, write, listen and speak in English without requiring a UKVI IELTS test.
Students beginning the English for Pre-Masters from June 2019 will not need to take an additional IELTS test in order to progress to a Pre Masters programme in September. Students will be assessed for their Academic English Skills (AES) grade at the International Study Centre, where they will receive the right teaching and support to achieve the required score of at least 40% in all areas.
Students applying to start the Pre-Masters programme from September 2019 will now be able to apply using an equivalent qualification to an IELTS test as part of their English assessment. The accepted alternative qualifications for English include:
- Cambridge Business
- Cambridge Main Suite
By providing these alternatives to Academic IELTS, the University of Surrey International Study Centre gives postgraduate students greater flexibility when it comes to English language qualifications.
