Application processes for Science, Nutrition and Dietetics, and the school of health sciences, Health care-related degrees
Important information
Places on the BSc (Hons) Nutrition and Dietetics, and Health Care-related degrees such as BSc (Hons) Nursing Studies (Registered Nurse Adult Nursing) are limited, therefore University of Surrey have selection processes in place. The application and selection processes are set out in the below steps. Students must progress through each stage of the process to successfully join BSc (Hons) Nutrition and Dietetics or any Health Care-related degrees at the University of Surrey.
When you apply to study with us, please bear in mind that you will be required to select an alternative progression degree from the Life Sciences pathway.
Please note: BVMSci (Hons) Veterinary Medicine and Science is only available for progression from the September intake.
Student support
We are fully committed to supporting all our students in their journey to studying at University of Surrey. Expert teaching staff will equip you with the skills you need to tackle the challenges of studying at a top UK university, and other Centre faculty will be on hand to help you adjust to life in a new country.
Additionally, students aiming for progression to these degrees will be offered information and preparation sessions prior and during the International Foundation Year.

Application process stages
There are a number of stages in the process outlined below at which point the University of Surrey will either accept or reject students. If accepted at each stage, students can continue with the process. If rejected at any stage, students will be unable to progress to their chosen degree and will be offered their alternative progression degree (subject to achieving the required grades).
Students must progress through each of the below stages of the process to successfully join BVMSci (Hons) Veterinary Medicine and Science, BSc (Hons) Nutrition and Dietetics, and The School of Health Sciences Health Care-related degrees at the University of Surrey.
Offer-holders invited to an online information session about the application process.
Note for January starters: this stage will take place in September/October.
Students start the International Foundation Year. During induction week, students will have a face-to-face session about the application process and personal statement.
Note for January starters: this stage will take place in January.
Students are offered a range of opportunities to learn and practice soft skills, volunteer and attend field trips.
Note for January starters: this stage will take place in February.
Students take part in a visit to the School of Biosciences and Medicine and meet previous International Study Centre students who have progressed to BSc (Hons) Nutrition & Dietetics.
Note for January starters: this stage will take place in March.
Personal statement writing session will take place for all students (September and January starters).
Personal statement submission deadline for all students (September and January starters), approximately end of April.
Accepted? – student continues with process
Rejected? - student is unable to progress to BSc (Hons) Nutrition & Dietetics – alternative progression degree offered. Alternative progression degrees include BSc (Hons) Nutrition and BSc (Hons) Nutrition and Food Science, subject to achieving the required academic and English progression grades.
All students (September and January starters) are invited to interview.
Accepted? – student receives conditional offer from the University of Surrey
Rejected? - student is unable to progress to BSc (Hons) Nutrition & Dietetics – alternative progression degree offered. Alternative progression degrees include BSc (Hons) Nutrition and BSc (Hons) Nutrition and Food Science, subject to achieving the required academic and English progression grades.
Final progression grades released. If student has achieved the required grades, they will receive an unconditional offer from the University of Surrey.
